Dozens Cited for Underage Drinking Violations

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.- The Madison County Sheriff’s Department arrested and/or cited dozens of people in connection with a gathering where minors were allegedly consuming alcohol.

According to a news release, deputies responded to the residence of James and Sara Hardwick in the 300 block of Bakers Chapel Road early Sunday morning. The Hardwicks allegedly told deputies they were aware of the underage drinking.

Deputies reported finding several alcohol containers on the property.

The Sheriff’s office charged the following people with contributing to the delinquency of a minor/furnishing alcohol (8 counts):

James Mac Hardwick, Jr., age 43
Sara Kathleen Hardwick, age 41
Kurt Michael Kroeger, age 21
Ayla Margrete Morris, age 21
Andrew Thomas Short, age 21
Franklin Connor Jones, age 21

The following were charged with underage possession/consumption of alcohol and public intoxication:

Tanner Lucas Boley, age 19
Christopher Drew Wall, age 19

Deputies cited and released the following individuals, who were under 21, but over 18 years of age, in connection with the case:

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department stated that one 15-year-old juvenile, four 16-year olds and three 17-year-old juveniles were also cited and released.

A total of 63 individuals were charged or issued citations.

The Hardwicks told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News they never agreed to let their son throw a party at their house, just have a few friends over. A family friend of the Hardwicks say the small get-together escalated quickly.

"They would never condone underage drinking. They are very protective parents trust me," said Terry McPeak.

Sheriff David Woolfork says no arraignment dates have been made for those arrested.
