Dr. Ernest Brooks Laid to Rest

JACKSON, Tenn. - West Tennessee NAACP leader Dr. Ernest Brooks was remembered as he was laid to rest, Sunday. Friends and family gathered at Jackson's New St. Luke's Missionary Baptist Church for the funeral service.

Dr. Brooks unexpectedly passed away late Monday afternoon while returning from visiting his wife in Mississippi. He was found unresponsive in his car outside a gas station in Grenada, Miss. His cause of death has not been released but no foul play is suspected.

Dr. brooks was a life-long educator and advocate for civil rights. He is remembered for working tirelessly with the Jackson-Madison County Chapter of the NAACP.
