JACKSON, Tenn. - A West Tennessee shelter for women needs help collecting food and household items for clients to use during the upcoming winter months.

The Dream Center of Jackson is collecting canned food and household items this weekend and next weekend. Last year, the center filled nine trucks with canned food and household items and they're hoping to fill 12 truck this year.

The Dream Center helps women and children by giving them a place to stay while they get back on their feet.

"If we achieve that goal then we can do a lot more for the ladies such as buying bus tickets. We can help with children buying supplies for school medical expenses they may incur," said Terri Davis.

The Dream Center of Jackson will collect donations Friday, as well as Oct. 12 & 13. Drop off locations will be at the Lynnwood Shopping Center, South Jackson Walmart, North Jackson Walmart, Food Giant on Christmasville Road and Serra Chevrolet.
