Drug Arrest Made in East Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. – Members of the Jackson Police Department Gang Unit and the Multi-Jurisdictional Violent Crime / Gang Task Force arrested a man in East Jackson after executing a search warrant.
According to a news release, officers served the warrant at the home in the 100 block of Griffin Street at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
Investigators reported seizing approximately 44 grams of marijuana, digital scales, packaging material, and a hand held scanner. A loaded 9mm semi auto handgun was also reportedly recovered inside the residence.
Police arrested Joe Travis Northern Jr., 36, inside the resident when they executed the search warrant. Northern is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to resale, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Jackson City Court, Thursday.
According to police, Joe Travis Northern Jr. is a prior Convicted Felon and his previous convictions are Reckless Endangerment involving a Deadly Weapon in 2004 and two convictions for aggravated assault in 2002. All of those convictions happened in Madison County.
