JACKSON, Tenn. - Fire investigators are combing the Brookfield Apartment building to see what caused the early morning fire. Joseph Miller just moved there less than 2 months ago. However, he was only able to save one bag of clothes.

I don't have nothing," said Miller.

Miller said he was asleep when the fire started. He woke up to the sounds of his neighbors who were trying to get out.

"We really heard a panic outside people was hollering screaming everybody running trying to move their stuff out of the apartment," said Miller.

Latasha Hall is thankful she was not home when the blaze started.

"I got a phone call last night from a friend and she said my apartment complex was on fire...came over here and it was in flames," said Hall.

Those families who were displaced received help from the American Red Cross. Fire investigators are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
