Elderly Man Beaten in Chester County
Henderson, Tenn. - According to Chester County Sheriff's Department Floyd McCarver has been charged with domestic assault after allegedly beating his roommate with a fly swatter.
He and the victim, Johnnie Rushing, lived in Enville when police say Rushing was attacked earlier this week.
Richard Marr, a relative of the victim, said his uncle does suffer from mental issues. According to him, Rushing has been beaten for years by McCarver. Marr said Rushing has lived with the suspect for five years.
Rushing was recently admitted to a nursing home where officials noticed his injuries and called the police. Rushing's nephew said his uncle was living in filth and only weighed 112 pounds.
The Chester County Sheriff's Department also said McCarver is a registered sex offender. State records show he was convicted of aggravated sexual battery in 1994.
