Election Commission discusses voter trends
WEST JACKSON -- The day after several major contested elections, we spoke with the Madison County Election Commission about some of the trends they saw.
Kim Buckley, Madison County Administrator of Elections, told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News they experienced a surge in the number of people who didn't update their change of address, which slowed down the voting process this year.
Now, they say candidates have a certain amount of time to remove their campaign signs.
"The candidates have three weeks to get their signs down," Buckley said. "We hope they'll get them down sooner than that, but they do have three weeks."
Officials say 10 provisional ballots were cast, and seven of those were from voters who didn't have a photo ID. Voting officials say results will be certified next Thursday.
