JACKSON, Tenn.- The Jackson Exchange Club honored one of Jackson's finest with its Officer of the Year award.

Sergeant Shane Beaver was the recipient of this year's award.
He currently serves as a field supervisor on the third shift and works as a member of the department's SWAT team as well.

Both positions often put him on the front lines at the time when most of us are asleep.

"The men and women I've had the pleasure of working with the last couple of years on third shift, I wish they could have been here because without them I wouldn't be where I was and I wouldn't be who I was," said Sgt. Shane Beaver, Officer of the Year.

Sergeant Beaver also serves as the lead instructor for the department's Active Shooter Response training.
