JACKSON, Tenn.- A Jackson civic club named its Firefighter of the Year, Tuesday.
The Exchange Club recognized Jackson Firefighter Brian Rice of Station 5 with this year's honor.
Leaders said throughout his exceptional years of service, Rice has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to the city of Jackson, the fire department and his fellow firefighters. In addition he has gone the extra mile, in completing station tasks while building a positive work environment.
"There are probably several guys on our department or individuals on our department that are more deserving. In my opinion, I would have picked them over me," said Firefighter Bryan Rice of the Jackson Fire Department. "I have yet to have a day when I got up to go to work that I was groaning and thinking, 'oh man I don't want to go to work today.' I have enjoyed every day of it."
The Exchange Club awards the honor every year.
