Family of Shooting Victim Heartbroken, Wants Justice
JACKSON, Tenn- The family of the man killed outside of a south Jackson nightclub is speaking out, hoping that police soon find the people responsible for his death.
Police said early Sunday morning Raymon Carpenter of Nashville was shot outside of night club Sensations, on Bond Street after an argument with another man while inside. Investigators said Carpenter was followed out by a group of men after security asked him to leave, and was shot within minutes.
"My son didn't even know those boys and they shot him," said Ramonia Carpenter, the victim's mother. "Now he's gone and I will never see him again."
Carpenter was in Jackson for his uncle's surprise birthday party. Family members said after the festivities, he headed to Sensations with his sisters.
"I was standing right next to him when he got shot," said Tarcara Jones, the victim's sister. "The bullet grazed me and hit him."
Family members said their loss will be felt every day and they are finding it hard to tell his two young daughters, nieces, and nephews that he's gone.
"How do you tell them that they're never going to see their uncle or daddy again because we were at the club and some boys who didn't know him, hurt him?" said Jones.
Police are asking anyone with information that can help to contact the Jackson Police Department at (731) 425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at (731) 424-TIPS.
