JACKSON, Tenn.- There is a new convenient way for those who shop at the Farmer's Market in downtown Jackson to make their purchases.

Tuesday, Jackson City Council members approved a grant that will be used to bring an EBT machine to the market. It will allow low income families using food stamps to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables

City leaders said it will allow area residents to purchase nutritious foods that are grown locally.

"We all are trying to be nutrition conscious and improve the market as well, and for the vendors as well as the residents of Jackson, " said Vicki Lake, of the West TN Farmers Market. "I think it allows them to have access to wonderful food and nutritious foods at the market."

The Farmer's Market is located in downtown Jackson on Shannon Street. The big day of the market is Saturday morning.
