City leaders and area veterans were on hand as club members recognized those who area represented by the more than 1,000 American flags.

25 of the flags are in memory of the children who died in Tennessee last year due to child abuse. The others stand in tribute to West Tennessee veterans and first responders.

"We hope they will stop and remember those who have served and made the country what it is for us today and all those who will serve, said Tawnya Moore, chairperson of the Flags of Freedom.

So far, the Exchange Club has raised more than $22,000 through the Flags of Freedom fundraiser.

They will remain on display on the front lawn of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church through June 9.
