Gas Station Hacked for Credit Card Information
DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn.- Mapco Express, Inc. locations in several states said their customers credit card information might be at risk.
The company said its payment processing systems were hacked between March 19-25, April 14-15, and April 20-21, 2013. They say hackers used malware to potentially get credit and debit card information from its customers.
"I wouldn't have bought gas today if I would have known," said one concerned Mapco customer.
The gas station chain said customers should not worry when pulling up to the pump, because they have located the malware used and disabled it.
Mapco said it urges anyone who used a card with them recently to check their bank statements, and if they think their information was taken to call their bank immediately.
