Grassfire in Gibson County

OBION COUNTY, Tenn. An Wednesday afternoon wildfire near the Gibson and Obion County line, burned an estimated 50 acres of cut corn fields and two acres of uncut beans.

Firefighters were called out to Anderson Road about 4 p.m. No injuries were reported. Gibson County Fire Chief Bryan Cathey said it took crews two hours to put out the fire. The cause is under investigation.

The homeowner told them he has not burned anything all year due to the extremely dry conditions.
