Shots Fired at Benton County Home

A loud unsettling noise woke up a Camden couple Friday night.

Three gun shots were fired at a Camden home. Deputies said fortunately the couple was sleeping, otherwise someone could have easily been hit and killed.

Investigators said two of the high velocity rounds went through the house and one of the bullets cut through four walls, including a bathroom and was stopped by an exterior wall.

According to neighbors, the woman who lives in the house used to have many grudges against her because of her former job as an animal cruelty officer. Deputies said they hoped someone wouldn't go to the point over a grudge from a few years ago.

This was not the first time the couple has been a target. "A few years ago she did have an air conditioning unit shot at. We weren't able to solve that at the time and of course this is a little more serious because one of the bullets actually went almost all the way through the house and through a shower so we could have been working a homicide," said Benton County Sheriff Tony King.

The homeowners said a reward could be possible if it leads to an arrest. Anyone with information to help investigators is asked to call the Benton County Sheriff's Department at (731) 584-4632.
