Healthwatch: Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's Disease is now the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.
Jan Boud has first hand experience dealing with an Alzheimer's patient.
Boud said, "It affected me personally about ten years ago when my dad got the diagnosis of Alzheimer's. That began our journey as a family of caring for him and especially my mother who was his primary care giver while he had Alzheimer's."
Boud says the disease changed how her father acted. He became very quiet and his entire demeanor changed.
Because of her experiences, Boud and a friend got together and started a support group.
More than five million Americans are now living with the disease.
Tuesday, July 2nd The Alzheimer's Association will host Paint the Park Purple at the Jackson Generals game.
Anyone who is wearing purple will get in the game for free.
