Hardeman Co. Deputy Paralyzed, Fundraiser Planned

BOLIVAR, Tenn. - Hardeman County Deputy Dale Wyman is in critical condition while his son is dealing with his second round of cancer treatments.

The 47-year-old was driving down a steep hill on Highway 100 on August 10th. Sheriff Doolen said he almost hit the car he was going to help when he ran off the road and his patrol car flipped into a ditch.

Sheriff Doolen says the department took the news of deputy Wyman's accident very hard. He says some deputies are talking to counselors.

Mike Bailey says his community is here to help. He is organizing a fundraiser and 5-K run on August 25th.

"I see him a lot of late nights and he does wake a man up whens he's tired with a lot of smiles and jokes," said Mike Bailey.

Sheriff Doolen says Wyman has been with the Hardeman County Sheriff's Department for five years.
