Henderson City Kidnapping Suspect Wanted
CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn.- Henderson Police are looking for one man accused of raping a woman in Henderson, while holding her hostage with a machete, Tuesday.
Investigators are looking for Seth McCarty, 36 of Henderson after a woman told authorities McCarty kidnapped bound her with duct tape and sexually assaulted her for several hours. Police say she escaped while McCarty was trying to put her into his van on Christy Loop, she ran into a residence through the back door.
"She came running in the house hollering 'help me, help me,' she said he had raped her, held her hostage for 4 hours and cut her with a machete on the leg," said witness who didn't want to be identified.
investigators said McCarty ran after the victim with the machete in hand, then left the house once he saw that the homeowners were present.
"He saw me and my cousin in the living room turned around and ran out the door," said witness.
The female stated to police that McCarty told her several times that the was going to carry her to a friend of his in East Tennessee and that his friend was going to kill her and hide her body for him.
"I seen her go across the road, I just wondered what was going on," said neighbor Helen Vickery. "It scares me I've lived here since 1987 and this is the first time anything like that has ever happened over here."
The victim was treated for cuts to her leg she said were from the machete. McCarty was last seen driving away in his white Mercury Villager. His white van was found by Jackson Police, Thursday. Investigators said McCarty could have Jackson ties.
"I'm glad she got away, good for her but I hate he's still out there," said neighbor Donna Lussier. "You feel kind of like okay, what's going to happen next ."
Henderson Police said the victim is expected to be okay. McCarty is wanted for Attempted Murder, Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Burglary. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Henderson Police Department at (731) 989-2201 or (731) 989-2787
