Henderson Co. Deputy Arrested, Accused of DUI

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn.- A former Henderson County Sheriff's deputy has been arrested.
Officials arrested Alvin Byrd on December 28. He is accused of driving under the influence and possession of a handgun while intoxicated.
Byrd appeared for arraignment, Monday where he plead guilty to both charges.
According to a news release, the arrest followed an investigation by the sheriff's department and the Lexington Police Department where officials determined Byrd became intoxicated while on duty. He was later terminated.
Byrd had been with the sheriff's office for about nine years and was serving as a sergeant at the time the incident occurred.
