Henry County High School to Start Text Crime Tip Program

HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. - The Henry County Sheriff's Department presented a new texting program designed to notify school officials about dangerous situations to the Henry County Board of Education, Thursday.

Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew said the department would give Henry County High School Resource Officer Buford Taylor a phone. Students would be able to text crime tips. Students would be able to notify school officials about anything from cyber-bullying, drug transactions, or spotting a weapon on school premises.

Sheriff Belew said the Henry County Sheriff's Department hopes to kick off the text program the first week of September.
