Henry County Man Arraigned on Statutory Rape Charge
DOWNTOWN JACKSON -- A Henry County man was officially charged with solicitation of aggravated statutory rape, Thursday.
Darrin Murphy, 45, of Springville, was arrested at a Jackson hotel Tuesday night, and transported to the Madison County Jail where he remains in custody.
On Dec. 20, Murphy solicited sex from the minor over the Internet. Yesterday evening, Murphy resumed communication with the minor over the Internet and planned for the minor to come to his Jackson hotel room for drinking and sex.
Instead of the minor, investigators from the Jackson Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrived at the hotel room and took Murphy into custody.
Murphy's bond is set at $30,000. He's due back in court on Jan. 23.
