Historical Jackson House Reopens

DOWNTOWN JACKSON, Tenn. -- Jackson history continues to thrive as an East Jackson house officially reopens following revitalization.

The Cumberland House located on North Cumberland Street reopened on Thursday following an extensive renovation.

This 1870s era house, which sits on three acres, has a connection to some of this area's first inhabitants.

Owners of the house hope this historic home will become the backdrop for area weddings, reunions and other business and private events.

"I just feel very honored to be a part of this and we're caretakers of this house and we'll hopefully this house will be here for years after we're gone," Kathi Landon Leatherwood, Owner of the Cumberland House said.

The home has been transformed into a venue and parking area in Downtown Jackson.
