HoneyBaked Ham Donates to Schools
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. - More than 20 Madison County teachers will be getting an early Christmas present this year.
On Friday, Jackson's HoneyBaked Ham store donated 27 gift certificates to the Jackson-Madison County School District and gave the staff at East Elementary School a free lunch.
The "Most Outstanding Teacher" from each school in Madison County will get a $50 gift certificate.
School officials said it is up to each principal to select the teacher.
Teachers said it is great a local business is giving back to their schools.
"Very often we get overlooked in the schools at how hard we work, and I think it's very nice that a local community has chosen to spotlight teachers and bring in hams, something we will need to help celebrate Christmas," said Anna English, a teacher at East Elementary.
HoneyBaked Ham spokesperson said this is the first time the Jackson store has donated gift certificates to the schools and they plan on making it an annual tradition.
