Jackson Hookah Bar Shutdown
NORTH JACKSON -- The City of Jackson has filed a temporary injunction to shut down The Palace Hookah Bar located on Vann Drive.
Court paperwork that was filed on October 18 alleges that there have been six calls for service to the location since August 2013. The city also expressed concerns about private parties that the managers reportedly planned to hold over the weekend.
Chancellor James Butler granted the injunction Friday shutting the club down immediately.
The property owners also filed suit against the lessees the day before the city’s action. They allege the people renting the property had only paid about half the rent they owed since they took over the property in May 2012. They requested to court to allow them to terminate the lease and evict the renters.
The court will hear the request concerning the lease on October 29.
The tenants will also have to appear in court to face the city on November 1.
