Humboldt Business Owner Surrenders on Tax Evasion

HUMBOLDT, Tenn.- An investigation by the Tennessee Department of Revenue has led to the indictment of Rosie Davis, 68, of Humboldt. Davis, who is the owner of Mid-Town Grocery in Humboldt surrendered to authorities at the Gibson County Sheriff's Office on Dec. 6.
On December 3, Davis was indicted by a Gibson County grand jury on twenty (20) counts of tax evasion for the period April 2006 through January 2011. According to the Department of Revenue, each count is for tax evasion for an amount totaling more than $500. If convicted, Davis could be sentenced to up to two years in the state penitentiary and be fined $3,000 for each count of the indictment.
According to sheriff's department records, Davis is currently free on $50,000 bond.
