JACKSON, Tenn. -The IRS has delayed the opening of tax season eight days later then originally planned.

"It's really annoying that they've delayed it so much because I needed the money sooner," said Bethany Thomas.

The IRS will not process any paper or electronic returns before January 30, but it does not mean taxpayers must delay preparing their taxes.

"There is delay in some form but majority of tax filers will be able to file their returns in January as they normally would," said Michael Adkisson.

Bethany Thomas said she was going to use her refund to pay for school.

"I'm probably going to have to pay more of my savings toward school then be able to use my tax money to pay for school now its really changed my plans," said Thomas.
