Man Arrested For Stabbing His Dyersburg Nephew

DYERSBURG, Tenn. -- Dyersburg police have arrested an Illinois man for attempted murder in the alleged stabbing of his 25-year-old nephew over the weekend.

On the early morning of September 28, 2013, police responded to the block of Kist Street for a stabbing. When police arrived at the apartment, they found Bobby James Mitchell Jr.'s nephew suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Mitchell's nephew was transported by ambulance directly to the Air Evac helipad and flown to the MED in Memphis.

Mitchell Jr., 31, was later taken into custody at the MED, after the investigation determined that Mitchell was the alleged suspect in the stabbing of his nephew.

Mitchell was transported back to Dyersburg where he was charged with attempted murder, and filing a false police report.

Mitchell is currently being held in the Dyer County Law Enforcement Complex pending a court appearance in Dyersburg City Court.
