JACKSON, Tenn.- It was a day of math for Jackson Christian School students. The school's annual "Math-a-thon" was held today to help raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Pre-K and elementary students participated with the help from high school students. Those students solved math problems in return for donations, similar to a charity walk. The schools goal was to reach $10.000.
Organizers said the event is a great way for students to be able to give back to a great cause and learn at the same time.
"I've had people in my family, death in my family with cancer and things like that. So I know the impact of having a small child go through that has gotta be tough, I can't imagine," said Boothe White, a JCS Honor Math Student. "I would love to do anything possible to help."
School officials said the "Math-a-thon" is an annual event that students look forward to each year.
