JACKSON, Tenn.- Members of the Madison County Schools Budget Committee gather to talk about funding and the future.
The committee met Wednesday afternoon at the central office to discuss areas for possible increases in funding.
One proposal included a $2.4 million capital request to build a new stadium for North Side High School.
With no planned increase in operating costs, other suggestions included a one percent raise for teachers with more than 15 years of service.
"I think that it is important that we not take this lightly that we seriously interrogate every item and look at its impact on student achievement and our system meeting the goals," said Dr. Verna Ruffin, Superintendent of Jackson-Madison County Schools.
The committee will present the budget request to the board tomorrow.
