JPD Hosts "Coffee with a Cop"

If you stopped by the McDonald's on North Highland, Tuesday morning, you probably were surprised to see a number of police officers inside the business.

There was no crime as Jackson Police took some time out to host "Coffee with a Cop. " Department leaders said the effort is part of building relationships in the community with a different type of contact with Hub City residents.

Officers from all of the districts were on hand to sit down and chat about community issues and concerns and get feedback on how the department can better service neighborhoods across the city.

"I just hope it creates a good bridge of dialogue and relationship between law enforcement and the citizens in our community because we can't do our job without them," said Chief Gill Kendrick of the Jackson Police Department.

During the morning get-together the department gave residents a chance to fill out a 10-question survey that will help the department to find ways for improvement.
