JPD: Man Beaten to Death Inside Local Bar

Jackson police are investigating a murder they say several patrons witnessed early Sunday morning inside Breakers Billiards on South Royal Street in East Jackson.

"We received a call around 12:30 this morning of an assault that had happened," Lt. Tyreece Miller, Jackson Police Dept said Sunday.

Investigators said Kenneth Brasher, also known as Ken Brasner, was beaten to death in front of several eyewitnesses.

"I don't think that it was a fight. I think basically Brasner was just beat to death," said Lt. Miller.

A man named Travis Holliday was listed as a person of interest in the case according to Jackson Police. Holliday was to be arraigned in court this morning but police say before he was to be served with a warrant, a witness came forward.

Bar owner Lisa Sanders said the victim was playing pool near the back of the bar until he was suddenly attacked by another customer.

" We don't have any indication that Brasner did anything to provoke it," said Miller.

The suspect was with two other men, who left before police arrived to the scene. Police said the victim suffered multiple blows to the head from a blunt object.

While fighting back tears, Sanders said she feels like her bar is a safe place, and that nothing has ever happened there like this before.
