JACKSON, Tenn.-Local police are making a continuing effort to get out into the community.

Jackson police officers and Chief Gill Kendrick made a stop at a busy north Jackson fast food restaurant for "Coffee with a Cop."

Officers say it is important that residents and law enforcement get to know each other.

"We know that the basics of being able to solve a lot of crime is communication with the public. We cannot go out and sole crime by ourselves," said SGT. Abe Jones of the Jackson Police Department.

"Coffee with a Cop has been ongoing for more than a year and the next one scheduled for October.
