JACKSON, Tenn.- Leaders for Jackson State Community College announced a new working agreement with a Middle Tennessee University, Monday.
Beginning in March, Trevecca Nazarene University will have an administrative office on Jackson State's campus and will begin offering classes later this fall.
The official signing of the agreement took place, Monday afternoon at the east Jackson campus.
The agreement allows for a seamless transition from the junior college to the four-year private university.
"This gives an opportunity to not only Jackson State students but other students within the community to be able to come back and complete their bachelors degree in an expedited fashion," said Bobby Smith, vice president of Academic Affairs at Jackson State Community College. "For our students who will complete their associates degree, it gives them one more opportunity to stay within the area, but find a degree completion program that meets their needs."
Jackson State leaders said this is the first agreement with a school outside of West Tennessee and they are happy to welcome Trevecca to their campus.
