Jackson Residents Host Chicken Show

JACKSON, Tenn. - Dozens of people gathered for the first unofficial kick off to spring, and hosted a chicken show, Saturday.

76 total chickens and roosters strutted their mojo for the judges at the R and J feed supply store in South Jackson.

Organizers said there was not an entry fee, but judges asked that the birds be washed and ready for competition.

"Most of them do like to prance around and strut their stuff, especially in front of the ladies and it helps make them a little nicer birds," said Tim Kuikendall, The Poultry Club.

Organizers said there were 13 first place winners in different categories.

An Oiki chicken was named best in show. The people's choice award went to a Coachin Banton.
