Jackson Crime Stoppers Adds Texting Option
Jackson-Madison County Crime Stoppers is offereing a new "texting" component to help keep citizens of Jackson safers.
This secure application allows the tipster and Crime Stoppers to have two-way dialog while keeping the tipster's identity completely anonymous.
How to use Crime Stoppers tips SMS text messaging:
o In the message field enter agency keyword: Tips911
o In same message field enter your crime tip
o Send the tip to 274637 (which spells out “CRIMES”)
o Wait to receive your tipster alias and confirmation that your tip has been received (this only takes a few seconds). The system automatically generates an alias based on your cell phone number. Crime Stoppers does not get your phone number, it is encrypted through the Tipsoft server.
o After your tip has been sent and you receive your tipster alias AND return message, you can then send any additional information to Crime Stoppers using your cell phone. Your assigned alias allows for anonymous two-way communication between you & the Crime Stoppers agency.
o If you should decide to stop communications to Crime Stoppers text STOP, or for help text HELP.

Remember. No matter how you contact Crime Stoppers, your information will remain anonymous. Crime Stopper operators cannot tell what number you are call from, that you text from or the location of your computer that you send a web tip from.
