JACKSON, Tenn.- West Tennesseans who suffer from acute pain are being offered a new treatment in Jackson.
Regional Hospital is now offering pain block therapy that doctors said, in most cases will eliminate the need for narcotic pain IVs.
Some doctors have been using the technology since 2007 and said it can be used for a variety of surgical procedures and is 100 percent narcotic-free.
"Pain pills and opiate addictions is at an epidemic level now. And this allows us to completely to avoid or significantly cut down the intensity of the pain medicine we would have to use, or how often they would need to be used," said Dr. Jerry Jones, anesthesiologist with Regional Hospital.
Regional Hospital in Jackson is the only established nerve block program in this region.
