JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Jackson Firefighters Association donated a check for more than $30,000 Wednesday.

The check was given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

President of the Firefighters Association, Tony Murdaugh, says they went to different stores throughout Jackson to raise money for "Fill The Boot."

Rebekah Best, MDA Fundraiser Coordinator, says the money helps hundreds of people.

“We have 750 families throughout the mid south and many of which reside in the Jackson area. And firefighters here in Jackson are helping get them to clinic and our kids to camp,” Best said.

“Without the citizens of Jackson & Madison county we couldn't do this,” Murdaugh said.

The Firefighters Association says they hope this makes a difference in the community.
