WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Staff

JACKSON, Tenn. - Jackson residents planning to go out drinking this weekend should make sure to have a designated driver.

Jackson police officers will be performing sobriety checkpoints and increased traffic enforcement throughout the city Saturday night into Sunday morning.

They said they want to keep residents safe by removing impaired drivers from the roadways.

Officers will be checking for seatbelts as well.

The project is funded by a grant from the Tennessee Governor's Highway Safety Office.
