Jackson Police Searching For Shooting Suspect

JACKSON, Tenn. - Jackson Police are investigating a shooting on Hollywood Drive.

Shots rang out around 3:30 p.m., Saturday.

Chris Patrick lives near where the shooting occurred. He said following the shooting, suspects ran past children who were outside playing.

"Someone got shot in a neighborhood where kids are playing, so it's pretty scary," he said.

Jackson Police said the shooting was on 1170 Hollywood Drive in front of apartment 207. They said the suspected shooter is a black male who was seen wearing a red shirt.

Lt. Mike Landreth said Jackson Police are looking for two cars they believe to be involved in the incident - a red four-door Oldsmobile and a blue Jeep Cherokee. Both cars were seen fleeing the scene following the shooting.

Landreth said the victim was transported to the Jackson Madison County General Hospital with a gun shot wound to the leg. He said the victim is not from the area, and refused to tell investigators what he was doing in Jackson.

Chris Patrick said the noise from the shooting was so loud he thought it was happening in an apartment next door, but it was really across the street.

"What I heard was like there was a gun shot over here, then we saw some guys running," he said.

Many of the residents who live where the shooting happened refused to speak with WBBJ on camera because they said it is not safe while the shooters are still on the loose.

Lt. Landreth asks anyone with any information to contact the Jackson Police Department at (731) 425-8400.
