JACKSON, Tenn.- Jackson Police are investigating an apparent homicide after one man was found with fatal gunshot wounds in the parking lot of Jackson's Sensations night club early Sunday morning.

Officers who were patrolling near Bond Street in South Jackson responded to Club Sensations after hearing gunshots around 1:13 a.m. According to police, the victim identified as Raymon Carpenter, 26, of Nashville was found lying in the parking with gunshot wounds, just feet away from the club's front door.

"Yea, we exited through this door, came around and saw him lying in front of the door on the ground bleeding. He had one gunshot wound here," said David Cooper, pointing to his side.

Police said their preliminary investigation revealed that Carpenter was visiting Jackson for a family gathering. While inside of the club with his two sisters, officers said the victim had an argument with another man.

"They got into it for maybe a spilled drink and security put them out and then they turned the lights on in the club to make sure everything was okay," said Cooper.

Investigators said Carpenter was followed into the parking lot by a group of men after security told him to leave. At least two of the men in the group confronted Carpenter in the parking lot, ultimately leading to fatal shots.

" It sounded like full beer bottles dropping, that popping sound with everybody screaming 'it was a gun' then everybody just ran pushing me and my brother to the floor and huddled down in the corner," said Cooper. "It's pitiful. We can't come together or party together. Just seems like every time you go out to have a good time here, something bad will happen."

Some residents said the club is known for being a dangerous hang out spot. The shooting has many questioning the safety inside of the clubs in Jackson.

"Somebody's life like that taken over nothing, I mean it''s right here at your door," said neighbor Brian Wooley. " I hear neighbors talk when the club is open or whatever they call it. There's a lot of speeding cars up and down the road and throwing bottles."

Officials said Carpenter was transported by ambulance to the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 2:30 a.m. One suspect was described as a black man wearing a green shirt, white shorts and white baseball cap. Police said their second suspect was described as a black man with dread-lock style hair reportedly wearing a gray or white shirt.
