Jackson Radio Station Takes Stand against Violence

JACKSON, Tenn.- Jackson's urban contemporary radio station, 96KIX is taking on a new image.

Officials with Thomas Media, the station's parent company announced Friday a new station direction and initiative that they hope will prevent crime and gang violence in the Hub City.

The new image will include a change in music that includes not playing selections that promote violence and drug use. The new station initiative involves community leaders and ministers who will encourage all residents to become involves and help the city's youth stay out of trouble.

"Well, the fans of 96KIX and the people that know me and know what my objective are here at 96KIX and the direction I'm going, they're gonna understand it perfectly. We're trying to do the right thing," said
Radio Rasheed, program director of 96KIX.
