Jackson Rape Suspect Arrested

JACKSON, Tenn.- A suspect accused in an early morning rape in west Jackson last week and on the run since last Thursday was being held by
police.

Investigators said Demerit Cole, 31, was arrested after turning himself in early Monday morning.

He is facing a charge of rape and an unrelated charge for failing to appear in Madison County Juvenile Court.

Investigators said it was in a house in the 200 block of Airways Boulevard that Cole attacked a female family member who was in her late 20's. Cole had left the home before police arrived.

Cole was awaiting his first court appearance.
