JACKSON, Tenn. - Jackson's Society for African American Cultural Awareness met Sunday to celebrate Kwanzaa.

Residents gathered at the T.R. White Sports-plex to honor African heritage and achievements.

Organizers said the event was focused on giving and sharing among all people, and coming together as one.

"It's about having unity. It's about coming together to work for a common pupose. It's about working toward a common good," said event organizer Vanessa Rogers. "The unity that is felt, especially during this celebration, is remarkable. It's a beautiful thing to experience."
