Jackson Women's Group Observes Heart Month
JACKSON, Tenn. - Some West Tennessee ladies in red are bringing awareness to heart disease in their community.
The Top Ladies of Distinction, Jackson Chapter, hosted the fifth Annual "Women in Red Heart Luncheon" at Macedonia Baptist Church.
The ladies were treated to an afternoon of heart healthy tips, health screenings and a heart healthy lunch.
Organizers said it is important to inform others about the seriousness of heart disease.
"We decided as one of our health initiatives on the national level to do a heat luncheon. There was some going on in the community but not in the heart of the African American community," said Pam Springfield, chairperson.
The Top Ladies of Distinction group was started in Texas in 1964 to enhance and enrich the community through programs and projects.
