Jackson woman accused of strangling mother
EAST JACKSON -- A Jackson woman is charged with aggravated domestic assault when police found her Tuesday in the act of strangling her mother, according to court papers. Police responded to a report of domestic assault at an apartment on North Royal Street, according to the report. Upon arrival, officers heard a woman screaming for help from a second-floor bedroom. Officers entered the room and found Shaiquanda Rena Brown mounted on top of her mother with both hands around the back of the woman's neck, according to police. Brown is free on $2,000 bond, and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22.
