State Representative Jimmy Eldridge Comments Caught on Video

JACKSON Tenn.- A video posted on YouTube of State Representative Jimmy Eldridge on Wednesday showed him talking about a local Jackson resident in what he thought was a private conversation.

In the video, Eldridge is referring to a letter written by Jackson resident Patsy Johnson. Her letter questions Gov. Bill Haslam's proposed workers compensation reform package, specifically Eldridge's stance.

Eldridge can he heard in the video saying "I'm going to take care of that bill, that freight train is going off the.. running over."

Rep. Eldridge told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News his comment only means he wants the bill to move quickly to the house floor so that it will be a fair hearing.

"He's entitled to his opinion and she's made her's clear so that's what this system is all about," said Linda Hawks of Jackson.

The bill was approved by the House Consumer and Human Resources Subcommittee Wednesday, 4-2. The bill is set to be discussed again next Tuesday.
