Hundreds of residents laced up their tennis shoes and joined city officials for a wellness walk. Mayor Gist, Mayor Harris, and hundreds of school children marched for community wellness.

Jump Start Jackson hosted its Annual 6th Community Wellness Walk. The three mile walk started at the Carl Perkins Civic Center Saturday morning through downtown. Organizers said the purpose of the event is to encourage residents to get out and exercise.

"We really are striving hard to make Jackson a healthier place for all community members, not just our students but everyone," said organizer Annette Wilson.
