Kids Celebrate Independence Day with Parade

JACKSON, Tenn. - Kids at First Baptist Church Day Care celebrated our country's independence a little early, Thursday morning.

The youngsters were decked out in their red, white and blue and rode in strollers, wagons and walked the parade route, which was on the church grounds.

Family, friends and staff members also participate in the parade, which is turning into a favorite yearly celebration. Organizers say they hope the event leaves an impression on the children, even at this young age.

"I do think it's very important for the children to be aware of America's birthday," said Darlene Dubose, who works with the day care. "It's also a lot of fun for them, you can see the happiness on their faces."

Day care officials said 130 of their children participated in the parade.
