Knife Threat by Elementary Student
HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. - Investigators believe teachers and students dodged a serious threat at an elementary school when a student brought a knife to school with him.
According to reports, a sixth grader at Westover Elementary School brought the knife earlier this week. When teachers found out he had the weapon, they immediately intervened and safely took it from him.
Investigators tell us this child was a threat to other students and faculty, and they believe even more students may have been involved with the threat. Those students are being questioned.
The Henderson County School System Superintendent Steve Wilkinson would not talk to us on camera but did release this statement:
"I cannot comment of a specific child's discipline. We will follow board policy and the school's handbook."
The juvenile that brought the weapon is expected to be charged very soon.
