LANA Celebrates National Flag Day

Dozens of residents joined with the Lambuth Area Neighborhood Association to celebrate National Flag Day Saturday evening.

It all happened at the front lawn of the University of Memphis Lambuth Campus. Residents brought their lawn chairs and blankets and enjoyed live music and a potluck picnic dinner. The focal point of the night was a stage filled with American flags. Organizers said the event was one for the entire family.

LANA President Brad Greer said, "This is truly a neighborhood association where we do things as neighbors, and we take care of each other. So, to come together once a year and celebrate the freedoms that we have in America, celebrate our flag together as neighbors is a wonderful thing!"

National Flag Day honors the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as our national flag by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.
